Dr. Maurice A. Johnson is the Founder and Pastor of Memphis Christian Center. Pastor Johnson and his wife of Fourty-one (41) years, Minister Brenda Kerr Johnson, have three (3) sons, Maurice Jr., Morgan and Marcus, (6) grandsons and (5) granddaughters. Pastor Johnson enjoys travel, hunting, watching old movies with his wife, and spending time with his family. He stands as an exemplary role model to all men of a committed Man of God, devoted husband and loving father.July 11, 1993, Pastor Johnson was compelled by the Holy Spirit to make a bold move to start a church in the confines of his home. He and his wife and sons, who made up the founding members of what is now Memphis Christian Center, had Sunday service and Tuesday night service every week. Pastor Johnson and others faithfully continued a prison ministry to women and men at the Shelby County Correctional Institution, and The Mark Luttrell State Institution every month.
Min. Brenda K. Johnson holds the respected position of First Lady at Memphis Christian Center; is recognized as a committed worker, leader, and role model in the Ministry. First Lady Johnson is advisor to Women in the Word fellowship where she consistently blesses the ladies with the anointed Word of God. Women of Wisdom and Girls of Grace is a fellowship founded by First Lady Johnson that encourage communication and mentoring to bridge the generation gap. As Executive Director of Memphis Christian Academy, First Lady Johnson oversaw the Christian based school focused on the wholistic development of children; spirit, soul, and body from 1995-2005. First Lady Johnson is an anointed speaker who has impacted the lives of Women throughout the nation with her heartfelt, Bible based teaching. “Keep it Real,” “Just Be,” “Jesus My Example,” and “Pray the Results” are foundational teachings that inspire men and women who need to be set free from bondage.
Pastor Johnson worked for FOX Channel 13 for sixteen plus years before retiring to Pastor full time. The last seven of those years, the Holy Spirit gave him a special anointing to carry a double load with relative ease. Today people from all over the United States come to visit Memphis Christian Center in southeast Memphis, to hear the Word of God and to learn to live the lifestyle of faith. Dr. Johnson believes God has called him to be a builder of leaders in this 21st century. He is a product of the Memphis School System and a graduate of University of Memphis. He received his Doctorate degree with honors in 2004 from Jacksonville Theological Seminary. Pastor Johnson believes God has called him to redirect the future of his fellowman in this 21st century.
In July 1993, First Lady Johnson and her husband of 41 years, Dr. Maurice A. Johnson, along with their three sons, Maurice Jr., Morgan, and Marcus, started Memphis Christian Center in their home. Minister Johnson enjoys spending time with her family, especially her eleven grandchildren!
After a successful 16-year career with FedEx, First Lady Johnson decided to answer a higher calling and devote full time to the Ministry. First Lady Johnson attended the University of Memphis and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies from the Jacksonville Theological Seminary. This blessed, strong, virtuous Woman of God stands as an example of God’s love to women of all ages!.
